ABOUT THE LOCAL ARTISTS
Jack is a Photoartist. His eye is the camera. With the creative instinct of an artist, the camera is his brush. His photographs, printed on canvas is the culmination of his experiences traveling the world and capturing the scenic beauty of Long Island. From the cityscapes of New York City to the butterflies out his window, flowers growing in his garden, his photographs are paintings. They are brought to life with his camera. His magnificent photo of the rumpled, tattered American Flag, found in the rubble of the 911 attack, hangs in the Tribute Center in Downtown New York City. Images of “Our Flag Was Still There” are on exhibit in Studio 455.
Arline, a St. James resident is primarily an oil painter. Recently she has added watercolor to her portfolio. Her style and color are reminiscent of Henri Matisse, (so say critics), and that percipitated the series, “Matisse Unleashed”, a collection of work “after Matisse” in watercolor. She has embellished his paintings with her own “twist” and creates new work. In contrast to her colorful work, she exhibits line drawings in black and white. Using one continuous line she creates these enjoyable works.
